What is the difference between these Xenon driving lights?
I am wanting to replace my headlights with Xenon lights. What is the difference between these? What does it mean by DOT approved? Why are some of them sticking out and others are not?
these are not HID bulbs, they are just your standard globe but a different colour, if you want to update your globes for better light these are certainly not for you. they give the appearance of HID's colouring the glass blue, as a result it gives shocking light output in the dry and you won't be able to see in the wet, signs will blind you. the light will be so blue it will all be lost on the black road.
the DOT approved ones i notice are 55 watts, this is usually the standard wattage, the rest are higher, if your car is 15 years or younger you will have plastic headlights and the higher wattage bulb WILL melt all the reflectors in the head light as well as over heat the wiring.
if you want a light that produces more light output i would go for phillips bulbs 'xtreme power'
these are a amazing bulb, the light ouput is fantastic and it only draws the same amount of power as a stock bulb yet giving you 80% MORE light, which equates to a 25mt longer beam. all our cars have got these bulbs in them now, they really are good.
don't go for blue bulbs, you are wasting your money and they look wanky. the phillips give a whiter light but not blue.
