Problems with my Xentec HID kit?
I recently got 2 xentec hid kit's, 30000k-h1 for my headlights & 30000k-9006 for my fogs. I have a 2002 nissan altima by the way. I had a kit in the headlights already, it was a 8000k under another name brand, but I decided to get a different color. My previous kit never gave me any problems by the way, had that for 1 and half years. So I install the new kit and it worked fine that day, later on that same day I noticed I was driving and I pressed gas and I didn't go anywhere, So took car home. Next morning tried to start car and it didn't start, so I took battery and charged it, carried car to mechanic. Got word that my alternater went bad and had to be rebuilt, and after this was done the car seem to be fine. The next day, I got up and turned the car on the turn lights on. 2 mins after that the right headlight cut off. I ended up switching that ballast and it works now. My question is did the hid kit kill my alternater and if so what can I do to correct this problem?
Several things going on here. I think all are related to the failing alternator and low voltage. Throttle motor needs good voltage and the computer saw the throttle was not responding and gave you limp in mode 5 degrees throttle. Be careful disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and make sure the terminals are clean and properly tightened.The low voltage could also cause the transformer for the headlight to overheat and prematurely fail. I would return that transformer to the head light manufacture for replacement you never know they may send you another.
