true white headlights / hid / xenon lights?

I got a Nissan Almera N16 and I'm after those really cool white headlights / with that blue glow kind of if you know what I mean?
I know I'm after 'Xenon' headlights, but I'm guessing I need a HID kit? what are they and do i really need one?
the bulbs i have are
H7 (low beam) and H1 (high beam)
what options do I have what do I need to do? any help appreciated thanks!
HID kits are not legal in the UK, unless they meet the same regulations as factory-fit HID headlamps. See http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roadsafety/drs/hidheadlamps
You're best option (other than changing your car) is to try the xenon-filled filament bulbs (available from car accessory shops such as Halfords), which give out a more blue white light but are not as effective as HID.
