Need help removing a rounded off lug nut?
I need help removing a rounded off lug nut on a 1989 chevy s10 truck, we cant take it to a shop and we don't have access to an impact socket or wrench. What is the cheapest and easiest way to get it off without causing more damage. please help.
Sears (craftsman) has specific tools that EVERY mechanic or DIY'er should have. It's a stripped nut remover. If that doesn't work, the simplest (and easiest) solution is to get a ONE size smaller socket and bang it on there all the way and get your breaker bar with a lot of leverage (maybe add an extra pipe to extend and get extra leverage) and pry away. It's best if you do that with a impact gun but if you don't have access to one, that's the next best thing.
Of course, have replacement lugs ready and don't over torque them or use an impact gun on them or you'll be in the same situation
