97 Pontiac firebird gas gauge moving around a LOT?
I recently bought a used 97 Pontiac firebird. The car has been great except the gas gauge CONSTANTLY moves around. It won't ever stay still, even if I'm stopped or on level ground. It makes it really difficult because I can't afford to be constantly filling it up, and I never know if I'll have enough gas to get to where I need to go. Is this fixable? What could be causing it?

yes it is fixable, it could be a wire that is corroded or not making good contact, pull the gauge and inspect it, also it may be the fuel sending unit, it is normally located on top of the fuel tank, it has like a bobber that moves up and down when the tank is low it drops down when the tank is full it moves up, it sends the signal to the cars ecm which sends it to the gauge, check the fuel sending unit check the wires to make sure they are all connected good and properly, sounds like a wire is grounding out(touching metal when it shouldn't be) so make sure no wires are stripped and touching metal or each other also make sure the ground wires are grounded good.
