I cannot get to the bottom of this issue.....03 ford escape 3.0L ,multple dtc's and new ones every time I fx 1
I have been dealing with this issue on and off for about 7 mos and just cannot get to the issue ,I am beginning to think I have an ecm prolem or something.it started with rough run in wet weather. I pulled the plugs and found out they were oem with 150k miles.replaced plugs and ran ok for three months,CEL came on and showed code for B2 O2 sensor heater circuit fault,replaced both down stream sensors (customer wanted both).same time he had other things repaired (shocks ,struts,brakes and tires)ran about 3 days and surprise CEL returned,misfire #4and 5,checked plugs ,ok,(replaced anyway due to having to pull the intake off )swapped coil packs with 2 and 3 and reassembled,still has #4 and #5 misfire but now is showing the o2 b2 sensor heater circuit fault again.aaaahhhhhh....ran self diag and even more codes ,when running the engine and snapping throttle sounds as if it would need an accelerator pump (if it had a carb)new codes for self diag are misfire before 1000 rpm and trans switch
Sounds like the ECM, if you have more than just a scan tool you should be able to do a complete diag and it will tell you whether the ecm is bad or not because sometimes some sections go out or start to go out like the ram etc. etc. I had a car do kind of the same thing, the AC would work one day and not the next and then it quit, the compressor was fine, sensors were fine, it was fully charged, compressor clutch was fine, switch was fine and so were the relays put it on a complete diag and one of the several computers in the car was going bad it controlled more than the ac though it also controlled the cooling fan, coil packs, ignition timing and the ac obviously it was the AC section that went bad but it wouldn't have been long before the rest started to go.
