.....lets say nasa makes a large room and shoots it up into orbit. It would be kinda like a space station but inside would be a vacuum (Pabs=0) but it would still have zero gravity. Inside there would be a series of large rotating shafts that were initially powered by a battery. Once they get started they wouldnt stop right? So what if those generated electrical energy and charged up a bunch of batteries in succession? Then a device would drop them in a pod and drop them from orbit at a calculated location. We could have an endless supply of electrical energy with a fixed input.
Given the fact that we just put something on mars and the sophisticated robots in todays factories...would that work on a large enough scale?
1. Loss of energy in the generator. To power a generator, you make a magnetic field over a coil. The magnet moves the electrons in the circuit. The magnet is attracted to the coil as well, and creates resistance. To increase power, you would need a more powerful magnet, which would be harder to move due to more pull from magnetism on the coil. A smaller magnet would create less power, but easier to move.
2. Even if there was no loss, and the generators were powered by a motor turning itself, the generated power would only be enough to power the generators. Any other power being used would require more energy than it's producing.
