Cold air intake messing with MAF sensor ?
I have a 93 olds cutlass ciera with the 3.3 v6...recently i was bored and decided to make a diy cold air intake. Just a cone filter, flexible aluminum duct and a flexible pvc elbow. Ever since i installed it, the car really hesitates when the MAF is plugged in, when i unplugg the MAF the car is generally alright, except for the occasional stall when i put it into park, or neutral. Does anyone know why the intake would mess with MAF sensor ?
you have a leak somewhere. pirate air could be culprit of your problem. spray brake clean on and around the tube and junctions. not the air filter element. listen for a change in rpm. but ultimately, go back to stock. its the way the car was designed. its that way for a reasonr. the only reason they produce these products is to either lure enthusiests into buying it because "it adds horsepower and fuel efficiency" what they wont tell you is that they used a lot of other parts and tuning to acheive this number. when all it does is add what i call audible horsepower. theyre pointless. argue it all you want, the parameters are predetermined in the ecu mapping, put all the bolt ons you want and trust me, its just audible horsepower.
