t= time periods
I assume x is the time period, and also assume it to be years
thus, for the first function, FV at the end of 1 year FV1 = 1050
FV at the end of 2 years FV2= 1102.5
FV2/FV1= 1102.5/1050 = 1.05 = (1+r)^2/(1+r) = 1+r
thus r= 1.05-1 = 0.05 or 5%
PV= 1050/1.05 = 1000
Other values of the table are of little value, but can be checked for correctness of answer.
in case of the second function,
FV1=1100
FV2=1210
FV2/FV1= 1210/1100 = 1.1 = 1+r
thus r=0.1 or 10%
PV = 1100/(1.1) = 1000
