Hi, I have a 92 mazda rx7 FD3S - twin turbo, and my abs, battery, coolant, and oil lights came on and the car started idling a little rough and turbos seem not to be boosting as smooth...
I was told its a possible alternator... just wondering what else it might be...?

It sounds like a bad ECU to me. Something that might help it would be to undo one of the battery terminals, let it sit for 10 minutes and re-connect it, which will reset the ECU. If it displays the same symptoms, as before, then resetting did not resolve it.
If the alternator was bad, the light that looks like a battery would come on. To test your alternator, get your FD idling and hook up a multimeter to the battery terminals. 13.5 volts is the minimum it can read to charge the battery. If it's udner that, try blipping the gas and check the meter again. If it still doesn't read at least 13.5, your alternator is either dying or not wired correctly. Should it read over 15 volts, the regulator inside the alternator has fried and you need to turn the car off right now! 15+ volts will fry circuits inside the ECU and everywhere else in the car. Generally speaking, 13.5 to 15 volts at the battery terminals with only the engine running is the normal range.
I would suggest reading the Third Generation FAQ on the RX7 Club to gain a better understanding of how the car is acting. The capacitors inside the ECUs have a tendency to leak over time, which might be the cause. Please double-check in the Third Generation section for more info.
