You are also the second person I have responded to this week about this deformed Campbells Soup Can!
I work part time at a Chevrolet Dealership. We installed one on a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban with a 7.4L Engine.
We placed the vehicle on our shop Dyno and the results were not suprising. The vehicle lost 15 horses, and according to out Flow Meter it cut the intake air by 20%.
This gimmick actually creates an obstruction on your intake system. This can lead lean misfires on your vehicle. If this happens you are taking a risk of burning up your Catalytic Converter.
So as I said to the other person, walk into your parts department and price a new converter, then ask yourself if you are willing to take the risk. I'll just bet the $1200.00+ converter will change your mind.
These new OBD2 systems were not engineered with those gimmicks in the system.
If you are looking to get a little more out of your vehicle, then install a Cold Air Intake System. K&N Filters Typhoon Cold air intakes are really good systems, I have them installed on both of my cars and they work very nicely.
