$$$Which Brand brake pads should I get?? Please Help!$$$?
I have a 94 Lexus es300. I need to replace my brake pads. I am going to get ceramic for sure, but I don't know which brand to go with, there's so many! Akebono, Ebc, Raybestos, Beck Arnley. Which brands are the best??
you dont need ceramics. theres 3 to look out for
organic- made of asbestos, some nowadays are asbestos free and are made of some other organic compound, they work well, dont squeak too much, make alot of dust which gets on your rims, and its bad for your health, i dont really like them, but theyre dirt cheap. good if your gonna sell your car soon
semi metallic- good stuff, brake better than organic, arent as toxic, and dont make as much dust as the organic pads, theyre alittle more in price but are cheaper than ceramic, they are alittle louder though, so sometimes youll here a metal to metal noise when you brake, its rather quiet though
ceramic- very durable, brake the best out of all materials, are way louder than semi metallic and organic pads, dont make dust, but they do wear out rotors which is something you dont want. theyre for high performance applications, so little 4 cylinder cars have no use for them, in fact, theyll work so well that if you put them on your car and you slammed the brakes, the brakes would just grab and youd slide all over the place.
id say for you, get the semi metallic, the best of both worlds, you dont really need the ceramics seeing as how theres no need for the extra performance.
