ATSC TV is digital and does not work at all in a moving car. Radio ranges between 550-1650 KHz and 88-108 MHz ( FM is between NTSC VHF TV channels 6 and 7). That's AM radio and FM radio.The antenna that receives those radio bands uses a different length antenna from TV which is Super high UHF now. While standing still, you might tune in a particularly strong tv signal, but for digital tv everything is critical. The antenna on the car now might be better than the one you want to replace it with anyway. I would try it out before hacking up the car.
