4 days following a gallbladder removal and havaing a low grade fever of 100.2 and a large lump above belly?
Feels like that hardness that you get late in your preganncy. I didn't notice it last week before the surgery. Should I go in and get it checked out or wait until my follow up appointment. I can't afford to miss any work if I don't need to any suggestions would be great!
What are the complications?
Complications are rare but may include bleeding, infection ( fever) and injury to the duct (tube) that carries bile from your gallbladder to your stomach. Also, during laparoscopic cholecystectomy, the intestines or major blood vessels may be injured when the instruments are inserted into the abdomen. Remember, all of these complications are rare, though.
So the fever might be due to infection. The hard lump might be due to bleeding; bowel injuries; and injury to the bile duct.
Or the cause is this postcholecystectomy syndrome of a ventral or incisional hernia.and colic type abdominal pains.
A ventral hernia is also called an incisional hernia because it generally occurs as a bulge in the abdomen at the site of an old surgical scar. An incisional hernia occurs when the defect is the result of an incompletely healed surgical wound
A hiatal or diaphragmatic hernia is different from abdominal hernias in that it is not visible on the outside of the body. With a hiatal hernia, the stomach bulges upward through the muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen (the diaphragm). This type of hernia occurs more often in women than in men, and it is treated differently from other types of hernias
Therefore I strongly suggest that you should immediately see your surgeon.
