How can I get my EMachine, model number T1840, to power up after having removed the face plate?
I have an E-Machine, model number T1840. Its not working for some reason. I had to remove faceplate to look inside and wires came off the front. I put in a brand-new power supply to see if it fixes the machine. But Im not sure how to turn on the power when the face plate is removed. Since the power led actually connects to the faceplate, how can I turn the power on when faceplate is still off to diagnose the computer? Do I just short the green and white wires of the power led connector? Please help. Thanks.

You just short the wires on the power switch, not the led.
If you aren't sure you can look at the motherboard where all the front panel wires connect. There should be a diagram of what each pin is for. Just touch the two pins for the power switch with a screwdriver. I've done this many times.
