vw beetle interior seat harness?
I have just bought a 1971 vw beetle, it has original seats and i wanted to know if there is a way i could fit in seat harnesses as i prefer these to seat belts and think that they are safer. However, the original seats are quite low down the back and do not have a headrest so im not sure how to do it. If anyone has done this or has any suggestions it would be much appreciated, thanks 
I've seen old Bugs with racing harnesses installed, so it's very possible to do this. the racing harnesses might cost a little bit more, but you'll have a much easier time installing them compared to a 3-point unit that was designed for another car. check out Summit Racing or Jeg's, they carry a lot of harnesses and the prices aren't too bad. you should only need the 3 or 4 point harness.
your seats themselves might be an issue, but some of the later '70's Bugs have headrests. Mid America Motorworks and EMPI make just about every part for old VWs, brand new. they should have seats with headrests. just make sure you get the mounting brackets to go with them. also, there's always the option of installing racing bucket seats, but these can be pricy.
