2005 Mazda RX 8 Ran out of gas. We filled the tank and now it wont start. It turns over but wont fire. Do rotary engines have a hard time starting after the line and the fuel injection ports have been run dry? Any Ideas?
You may have burned out your fuel pump.
Fuel pumps use the gas to lubricate and cool their parts. When you run out of gas completely the pump can overheat and fail
Also, the RX8 uses a "sock" over the pumps entrance to filter the fuel. You may simply have sucked a lot of gunk onto it and it's now clogged so no gas can pass through.
