I have just built a computer for college and from what i know it has alot of OC potential. But when i use AMD overdrive and try to auto OC it just freezes as soon as i hit start.
Configuration:
Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
ASRock A790GXH/128M AM2 motherboard
Phenom II x4 940 @ 3GHZ
OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
HID Radeon HD 4770
I just want to know what to enter for the multiplier, voltage, south/ north port etc... on an air cooled system with no errors. And If i can OC the memory some how that would help too.
All these settings can vary as not all chips are created equal. Not only that but not all coolers are the same.
Do you have sufficient airflow through your case? What kind of CPU cooler do you have?
Either way, you have to incerase the frequency in small increments. Each time you increase, run a test with orthos or some other program. If it's stable, bump up the clock speed, if it crashes, you've found your limit and bring it down a few notches and call it a day.
It's a long drawn out process to get a great stable overclock, you can just enter pre-difined numbers.
Also, forgot to mention, when you up the FSB, the memory will automatically be overclocked.
