Well, unless you can locate i specialized car rental place, you can't rent a miata, chances are that even at a place that rents off shoot cars won't have a miata. Most rental companies (hertz, budget ect.....) they have contracts with the major car companies so that they can get good prices when purchasing a large quantity of cars and trucks. Even the small fry comapnies still seem to rent out ford, chevy or dodge specifically, because they can get good prices on fleet purchases. Sometimes however, and this is rare, but a dealership will rent out the cars that they use as loaners. Even still your chances of getting a miata are very slim.
If i were you i would go to miata.net, and within the forum section look up the area you want to rent the car in (the forum has a regional section) and post your question there. Most people on the forum are nice and will be more than willing to help you out!!!
