Can I adapt a K&N Typhoon Air Intake for a 2.0L Lancer to a 1.8L?
It is a 2008 1.8L Automatic.
Besides knowing if i can do I would really like to know why it can or can't be done.
In the case of it being possible, what modifications should be necessary?

K&N intake systems are designed and engineered specifically for the vehicle they are listed for. Attempting to modify the intake system designed for another model to your Lancer could result in the following problems: voiding of the K&N 1,000,000 mile warranty, possible damage to vehicle, possible damage to the intake, check engine light or lean/rich codes from the intake not being designed for that model's engine tuning, and possible engine damage. K&N does not recommend modifying intakes not listed for your Lancer in any way and if you still wish to do so, you do at your own risk. Currently, K&N only recommends the 33-2392 replacement air filter for the stock system. Typically by just replacing the disposable air filter with a K&N High Flow replacement can give you better performance anywhere from 1-4HP.
