Is it too cold to install a window insulator kit?
So I have a window insulator kit that I'd like to install, but I live in Minnesota and it's already freezing here. After watching some youtube videos they said it has to be warmer than 55 degrees Fahrenheit and right now it's 26. Should I not do it, or is there a loophole around this? Maybe blow dry the frame and window before installing it to warm it up?
You are talking about the plastic and double sided tape, right? If so, go for it, all you have to worry about is the tape sticking. You could heat the edges of the window frame a tad with your hair dryer before sticking the tape down. I would install double rows of the tape as it will hold the plastic better. In fact I would hold off on shrinking the plastic and just get the stuff installed. One note on installation. You can pull the plastic off and press it back on so don't worry about getting it on perfect the first go around. The main thing you want is dead air space so wrinkles won't take away from that.
