Fiberglass patch kit patches are yellowing. Why?
I patched up various cracks and holes in my bathtub about 4 months ago with a home fiberglass patch kit I bought at home depot. Fairly quickly, almost suddenly, the patches turned yellow and then brown. All over the tub. It looks horrible. One child uses the bathtub each morning and the cleaning people clean it every two weeks. I have let bleach soak in the bath overnight, and it didn't help. I almost get the feeling that some cleanser that the cleaning people are using caused some kind of reaction, but I don't know. I don't think its dirt. Any idea how it happened and what I can do to fix it? Thanks!
you didn't say anything about painting the repaired area after you patched your tub. if you didn't or didn't paint it with multiple coats of paint, i would guess that the fiberglass is absorbing cleanser, dirt and soap scum, etc. consider a bathtub refinisher.
