How to charge a 1 Farad Capacitor?
I lost the little light bulb resistor it came with. I bought a 1 watt resistor from radio shack and it did not work. My buddy told me to buy a 1156 bulb from Auto Zone so i did and i cant figure out how to use it to charge the capacitor. I have tried everything. please help!! if you have any ideas plz include a link to a picture so i know what to buy, Thanks!
The 1156 bulb will work.
Ground the capacitor to the chassis running a wire from the negative post to the car, then run the positive wire from the battery to the side of the bulb's base.
Next, set the nub on the bottom of the bulb on the positive terminal of the capacitor.
When the bulb goes out, the capacitor is charged. If it never comes on, then you either don't have a good ground, or the capacitor is already charged.
