My apt flooded last tuesday, it was the maintenance person fault, they hired carpet cleaners who also claim to
be mold specialists, they say they have sprayed some chemical in the walls and ceilings to prevent mold, what i want to know is if the drywall still has to be replaced? I dont know how good these chemicals are, I wish I could look inside the walls to see if they are mold free but I cant.
I Guess it would depend on the strength of the chemicals, but if you have any doubts, go to a home improvement store and buy a laser heat gun. Im not sure on the price, but where there is mold there will be a heat differential. Water pipes and things like that might give you false heat readings, but if your're pretty sure of whats behind the wall, then aim away. However if they just sprayed, there might not be enough buildup.
