How do propane tank pressure gauges work?
Since propane, like water, boils at a constant pressure for any given temperature, I don't understand how the gages that you attach to the outlet of the tank can tell how much propane is left in the tank. In other words, I would expect the pressure to be independent of the amount of propane that is left in the tank.
You are absolutely correct! The pressure in the tank is totally independant of volume. The pressure varies with temperature. Those gauges are totally useless. They will read full until there is almost nothing in the tank and then drop like a stone when the tank is almost completely empty...
