Mazda 3 owners?
I'm looking for a car and have looked at many different makes. I think I have settled on the mazda 3 as my first choice. I would like to know how good of a car they are? If anyone has one I would really appreciate your help. I am not the best when it comes to picking cars so I will take all the help I can get. Thank all of you!
I have one and it is a good car. The overwhelming majority of Mazda3 owners would agree with this statement. Rest assured you have picked a reliable vehicle. How good you ask. Mazda better be good as a brand because of the ultra competitive market. They can ill afford to manufacture an inferior product. Since 2004, Mazda has been the "hot" manufacturer because of design, clever interiors and fuel efficient vehicles.
Mazda has specialized in building small cars. The record shows, it is what they have done best over the years. The Mazda3 is a culmination of years of product development alongside research and development to bring to market a reliable sporting car. Involved in this process has been Hiroshima University with it's research in Kansei engineering. This type of engineering measures the feeling and the relationship between car and driver. Mazda has this ancient maxim called Jimba Ittai, translated in the English language "horse and rider." They have successfully translated this very maxim into their cars summed up by the slogan Zoom, Zoom. While these traits are usually reserved for the Mazda MX5, the Mazda3 is in the same bloodline and the driving characteristics are not to far apart.
Like you, I have asked the question of how good, because this is a question I think deserves several answers.
In my experience, with the larger 2.3 litre engine. Gas mileage from a tank of gas is 300 miles in the city and highway is 384 miles on a tank. It is robust, in the frame work of the vehicle, I have not needed an alignment, despite rough roads littered with pot holes over a 3 year period. It starts every morning and runs smoothly everyday. I have been told or read that the car's service life is between 187,000-275,000 miles before a major rebuild. This is provided fluids are changed out and the car is continues to be maintained on schedule.
It handles well, if you were to zig zag the car, it has nimble characteristics that resists getting heavier with each curve, it stays on it's feet. It can be fast if you invest in performance parts. It is naturally quick and agile, cat-like. The car has a partial safety cage, that needs supplemental airbags in the rear seats to be considered safe for rear seat passengers. Overall, I am pleased as an owner and I would recommend that you purchase this car because my experiences have been nothing short of excellent.
