Headlight conversion?
i bought a HID headlight bulb. and it says in the label "12V = 160/140" i tried it on my car and booom, my fuses exploded. later i found out that the headlights on my car stated 12V = 90/55. is there anyway that i can use my HID headlights? do i need special equipment to use it? hope you guys can asnwer my questions. High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights are not something that you just buy a HID light and slap it in and BAM, it works. See, HID lights work differently then regular light bulbs, there is no filament, the light comes from an arc that is created between the 2 posts inside the bulb. This arc burns and is enhanced by the Xenon gas in the glass envelope. You have set up your vehicle to use HID lights because when a HID light is turned on, it takes over 15,000 volts to create the arc in the bulb, and once it has been created, it takes about 80 volts to sustain.
Please, leave the HID conversion to someone who knows what they are doing, you are going to damage something.
