What needs to be done to fully utilize the Philips Diamond Vision 65W Halogen bulb?
I own Apache RTR 160Fi, and have recently replaced the default 35W halogen bulb with the Philips Diamond vision Halogen bulb which is a 65W bulb. Though the output of the bulb is fine please suggest what needs to be done to fully utilize the 65W halogen bulb in my bike as the bulb socket in the bike is meant for only 35W by default ?
That's a Very Worthwhile upgrade many people overlook,,and You are WISE to ask about the implications of the added electrical load.
Many people never even consider that.
I'm sure your overall etectrical system can support your Upgraded Bulb.
#1,,,there is a Safety factor built into all electrical systems,,,in terms of it's current carrying capacity.
The Truth of the matter is that by Increasing the Load,,,you Will Inevitably be using Some Portion of that Safety Factor.
There is simply "No Free Lunch",,,right?
The Trade-off for Improved Lighting Performance is a Reduction in Safety Factor.
How Much?? Honestly I do not know Specifically.
But I'm confident it's only a Small amount.
And will be virtually un-noticeable except perhaps after an extended time 2~3 Years?
#2,,,Comparing the Original 35W to the New 65W is Not a Fair & Even comparison.
Modern,,,state-of-the-art,,Lighting Technology employes advanced materials and construction.
So your 35W Bulb,,,,DRAWS approx 35W of Current and Yields "35W of Light"
That's an Old Standard.
New Bulbs produce 65W EQUIVALENT Light Output,,,,but Do so at only 50W Current Draw.
Your New Bulb is simply a LOT more Efficient and yields approx the Same Light as an OLD 65W,,,,but at much less current
Bottom line is that the New 65W Bulb is actually a LOT less electrical load than it's Rating implies.
So while your concerns are Valid,,,the Actual Specs of the 2 different Bulbs are Really MUCH closer to being near the Same than their raw numbers imply
It's a bit deceptive when Comparing.
But the GOOD thing is there is much less Difference than there seems to be.
Modern Tech is Great Stuff.
You Get a BIg increase in LIGHT,,,with only a modest & "safe" increase in Load.

Now with all that said,,,,One should Realize there's always a Possibility of a System being Sound & Solid & perfectly Functional-----YET MARGINAL/minimally Suitable.
The entire system has several components,,,,and Any One of those COULD be a "weak link" in the overall total chain.
*Wire Size
*Plug-inConnectors
*Bulb Sockets
*Switches
etc,etc
The Easiest way to evaluate is to measure Voltage Drop at the Bulb.
Turn the Lights On and measure Voltage AT the Battery,,,,,and then again At the BULB.
That shows the effects of any Hi-Resistance thru the entire circuit.
Ideally,,there should be NO difference between Battery Voltage and Bulb Voltage.
If there IS any significant difference,,,there's a problem somewhere.
SMALL differences are difficult to measure,,,and really need a digital voltmeter.
Most Systems will handle the New 65w Bulbs reliably
